About this CSS Formatter & Minifier

The CSS Formatter and Minifier does both ends of stylesheet work: it beautifies compressed or messy CSS with clean indentation for reading and editing, and minifies CSS for production when every kilobyte of the page weight matters.

How to use the CSS Formatter & Minifier

  1. Paste your CSS into the input panel.
  2. Choose Format to beautify it, or Minify to compress it.
  3. Copy the output into your stylesheet or build.

Good to know

  • Minifying a copied third-party snippet before reading it is backwards: format first, read, then minify for shipping.
  • Vendor CSS pasted from a browser inspector becomes far easier to adapt once it is indented properly.
  • Comments are kept while formatting and dropped when minifying, as you would expect.
