About this Base64 Encoder
Base64 encoding turns text and binary data into a safe alphabet that survives email, JSON, URLs and HTML. This encoder is UTF-8 safe: names with accents, Urdu and Arabic text, and emoji all encode correctly and decode back exactly, which is where many quick online encoders quietly corrupt your data.
How to use the Base64 Encoder
- Type or paste your text into the input panel (a sample is loaded).
- Click Encode.
- Copy the Base64 result into your header, data URL or payload.
Good to know
- UTF-8 safe round trip: what you encode is exactly what decoding returns.
- Works for Basic auth strings, data URLs and embedding small assets.
- Your text is encoded locally and never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the output longer than my text?
Base64 represents every 3 bytes with 4 characters, so output grows by about a third. That overhead is the price of using only safe, printable characters.
Can I encode text in Urdu, Arabic or with emoji?
Yes. The encoder converts your text to UTF-8 bytes first, which is the step naive encoders skip. Any language and emoji encode and decode back exactly.
Is Base64 encoding the same as encrypting?
No. Anyone can decode Base64 instantly. It makes data safe to transport, not secret. Use the AES tool in this toolkit when you need real encryption.
