About this CSV to JSON Converter
Data usually arrives as a spreadsheet and needs to leave as JSON: seed data for an app, a product import, a one-off migration. This converter reads your CSV, takes the first row as keys, and returns a JSON array of objects, one per row. Quoted cells with commas inside them are handled properly, which is where quick hand-rolled parsers usually fail.
How to use the CSV to JSON Converter
- Paste your CSV into the input panel, keeping the header row first (sample data is loaded).
- Click CSV to JSON and check the array in the output.
- Copy the JSON into your code, seed file or API request.
Good to know
- The header row becomes the object keys automatically, so name, city becomes name and city fields.
- Quoted values containing commas and line breaks parse as single cells, per the CSV standard.
- Conversion is fully local: customer lists and order data are never uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
Does the first row have to be headers?
Yes. The converter treats the first row as the field names for every object. Name your columns the way you want the JSON keys to read, for example name, city and total.
Do numbers stay numbers in the JSON?
Values that are plainly numeric are written as JSON numbers, and everything else stays a string. Check the output before importing if a column mixes both, such as phone numbers with leading zeros, which are kept as strings.
Is my spreadsheet data uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser. The CSV you paste never leaves your device, which matters when it is a customer or orders export.
