About this Color Tools
Color Tools convert colors between HEX, RGB, HSL and OKLCH, build tints and shades, and check WCAG contrast ratios with AA and AAA pass badges. It answers the everyday design questions: what is this brand color in HSL, and can anyone actually read this text on that background.
How to use the Color Tools
- Paste a color in any format, or pick one with the color input.
- Read and copy the converted values in every format.
- Set a background color in the contrast panel and check the AA and AAA results.
Good to know
- Body text needs a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 for WCAG AA; large headings need 3 to 1.
- The swap button in the contrast panel checks your pair in both directions, which matters for hover states.
- OKLCH shades stay perceptually even, so generated tints look balanced instead of muddy.
